The Renovation of the Interior and Exterior of the Telephone Building

SCROLL DOWN

The Renovation of the Interior and Exterior of the Telephone Building

Renovation

The Telephone Building was purchased by Deborah Bigelow in 1992 for her art-related businesses. Beginning in 2003, the building’s renovation became one of Deborah’s main projects. Work included paint removal, restoring brick walls, hardwood floors and many of its original features, roof and foundation work, connecting the building to natural gas and other mechanical upgrades.

The project concluded in 2017 with the restoration of the exterior cornice to its majestic “limestone white.” The words “TELEPHONE BUILDING” now gleam with gold leaf from high overhead. Lights were installed on the front of the building in 2012, funded by a New York State Main Street Improvement Grant.
